Customizing Out-of-the-Box Scenarios
With Tenor, you can tailor any out-of-the-box (OOB) scenario to better reflect your team’s goals, language, and culture. Admins, Instructional Designers, and Members (standard users) all have the ability to customize, but the way those changes are shared differs by role.
How to Customize a Scenario
Go to the Library tab
From your Tenor dashboard, click into the Library.
Select a scenario
Find the out-of-the-box scenario you’d like to edit.
Click Customize Scenario
This will open the scenario editor.
Make your changes
Update the details you’d like to adjust — for example, conversation prompts, context, or framing language.
Save your changes
Click Save Changes when you’re ready.
What Happens Next (Admin vs. Instructional Designer vs. Member)
- Admins → After saving, you can publish the customized version back to the Library. Once published, the updated scenario will be visible and usable by everyone in your organization.
- Instructional Designers → Your customized scenario will be saved just for you. It won’t be visible to others in your Tenor instance.
- Members (Standard Users) → Your customized scenario will be saved just for you. It won’t be visible to others in your Tenor instance.
- Important Note: Customizations made by Instructional Designers or Members are not saved to the Library. After one practice round, the scenario reverts back to the original out-of-the-box version.
Quick Recap
- Admins → Customize + publish back to the Library for organization-wide use.
- Instructional Designers → Customize + save privately for your own practice.
- Members → Customize + save privately for your own practice.
This approach gives admins the ability to roll out consistent learning experiences while letting every individual adapt scenarios for their personal development.
