About Tenor: Who We Are, What We Build & Why It Matters

What We Build:

Tenor is an AI-native workforce enablement platform for the enterprise. We close the gap between what a company decides at HQ and what employees actually do on the ground, giving every person in the organization their own AI coach through realistic voice simulations.

Our platform lets companies turn any initiative, a manager academy, a sales rollout, a performance cycle, into something every employee can rehearse before the real moment arrives. Each practice session is scored against the company's own playbook, with actionable, specific feedback so people know exactly where they stand and how to improve.

Tenor's mission is to build the always-on infrastructure that makes exceptional workforces, and we'll continue expanding our platform to support that mission.

Who's Behind Tenor?

Tenor was founded in 2023 with a commitment to helping enterprises unlock the full potential of their people. We're an early-stage startup based in San Francisco, backed by top VC firms. Our team is led by co-founders Charlie Stigler and James Cross, both with 15+ years of enterprise experience. Each joined Workday through the acquisition of their previous startups, giving them a deep understanding of how large organizations actually operate.

Who is Tenor for?

Tenor serves any organization that needs its people to perform consistently at scale. Our platform benefits everyone from people managers and project leads to sales reps, customer service teams, and individual contributors stepping into high-stakes conversations.

Our current focus is U.S.-based enterprise clients, typically with 5,000+ employees. We collaborate most often with HR and L&D departments, but we work with any group that needs to close the gap between strategy and execution: sales enablement, customer experience, operations, and beyond.

While leadership development is where many clients start, Tenor powers training across the full workforce, including specialized scenarios for sales readiness, customer support, recruiting, and policy rollouts.
